Default Death leveling solo or dual?

I've been using my two accounts to help death level my necro in pre, currently level 17 and 58% and my ranger currently level 10. One reason why I have been using my two accounts is for a free gate monkey. I roughly get 5% each DL session which translates into saving a whole 1k per level by using my own gate monkey. I also just figured that the Charr would get to level 16 faster by killing both my necro (17) and my ranger (10).

However, I never took into consideration that there is a 10 second wait between both of their deaths and rezing, which I don't think happens if you die solo (I know there is a couple seconds before you rez solo, but I don't remember 10 seconds). Which means that for every 360 deaths I waste an hour to rez. Also, I don't fully understand how Charr level. I know a few Charr "steal" exp from their brethren and that's why I see 3 level 19 Charr and 2 level 13 Charr. I don't know if the extra experience from my ranger helps increase this divide or not.

Anyways, the tl:dr is: what's more productive? Death leveling solo with my lvl 17 necro, or dual death level with my necro and lvl 10 ranger. Thanks in advance

PS. My computer doesn't seem to have a problem running GWx2 and Xfire all night long, so that's not a problem for me personally.

From what i recall its actually slower with two players due to the 10 secs wait.
Eg solo can mean death>rez>death>rez in say 30 secs but as 2 players death>rez>death>rez may take 50 secs - this is an approx but does show roughly what happens and yes its a bit weird - why anet decided if a party dies it takes longer to res is beyond me , same with missions/mapping - more than 1 human more times it takes

Im currently in the process of death leveling myself (lvl18 80%). And I find that doing a duo death level definitely speeds the process up. I currently use a level 18 (my LDOA to be), and a level 16.

However..

If your other account only has a level 10 on it, then chances are you would be faster death leveling solo. Purely for the reason that once the charr hit level 11, the experience they would gain from killing the level 10 would be greatly reduced.

For example:

Killing a foe 1 level below yours nets you 80xp, this is no different for the charr. However you then have to take into consideration that then that 80xp must be split amongst however many charr are present.

So you see once the charr pass your level, the xp they gain is greatly reduced thus reducing effectiveness of having 2 accounts active, because you have to wait for both characters to die before you rez.

In answer to your question, regardless of 1 or 2 accounts once all players are dead you must wait 10 seconds to rez.

So when you take into account the little xp the charr gain from the level 10, and the extra couple of seconds taken to kill it and then rez. You're probably better off going solo.

If you have the time and the patience I highly recommend leveling up the other character to atleast level 14, level 16 ideally. Although this means doing a whole lot more boss runs.

For further information I recommend checking these out:

And more directly to death leveling:

Hope this wall of text has helped somewhat

I suggest checking out the links above. A lot of people have done a lot of research to answer the questions you have (but still only best guesses). The current, common view of how Charr level is that it is based on damage output. If you want your groups to level equally, try to pull groups comprised of Hunters and Ashen Claws (Hunters deal the highest damage and Ashen Claws are like vamp weps).

As for dual vs. solo, I suggest you keep using your ranger. Even with the xp gain from killing him slowing down as the Charr level up, they will still reach level 10/11 faster than they would if you were solo.

Added to the above, Ashen Claws will also use Mark of Pain on you. If you have a buddy sharing the deaths, the MoP will kill him/her quicker than if he wasn't there, and vice-versa.

Dual levelling is the way to go, although personally I'd use a char that's higher than a lvl 10, but with a LDoA toon and another on lvl 15 I can afford to say that

Actually, it is different for the Charr. Foes gain XP at twice the rate a player does (Wikia XP Table). My own researches in pet leveling prove that this is also true for pets, probably because they continue to follow the rules for foes even after they are charmed. Heroes, OTOH, follow the same rules for XP gain as players.

Unless I'm sadly mistaken (a common occurrence), XP for kills is shared when there is more than one of you. In that case, the above L17/L10 dual-d-levelling scenario only makes sense if you intend to get LDoA for your L10 too.

(mirite?)

You only kill the Charr when your alt account is dead, so wait for the Charr to kill your alt then finish off the Charr and get all the XP for yourself

Aye, I have my alt account leave to make sure my necro gets all the exp.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll keep dual DLing for a little more and then probably go solo once I hit 18. Thanks again, I appreciate it

I have a lvl 19 war/r with 34% to next level.

First, the res time for either one or two party members is 10 seconds regardless upon the death of the SECOND party member once the first party member is dead.

So if you lvl 10 dies it says, "waiting for party member to res u"
Once your higher level toon dies it starts the 10 second count down.

Charr are lvl 8 and lvl 7. The shaman are lvl 7 and most people get rid of them first so I will not be considering the lvl 7's.

With the lvl 8's I can lvl them Really fast with my lvl 19 war/r and then my lower lvl 13 helps a bit.

Once the charr reach lvl 11 as someone above pointed out, its pointless to have your lvl 10 there cause its not the Timer at 10 seconds that slows things down its the time it takes the charr to kill your lowest lvl character that is the added time.

Now at the beginning when there are Many Charr killing you this amount of time is not that great a deal but when there are only 3 or 4 charr left to kill you, it can take more than 10 seconds for them to kill you since the charr do not lvl at the same rate when in the larger group.

so what I do is I will get the first group of charr to the lvl of the lower toon +1 lvl and then just map him out.

That is if I take him at all. Most of the time I just have my second account open the gate and map out and I dl at night so in the morning its there for me to kill the lvl 20's
